Estonian aviation is getting safer thanks to digital innovation
January 27, 2025
Krabu Grupp and Krabu Tech have won a public procurement contract aimed at further developing and improving the Estonian Transport Board’s new Flight Safety Supervision Information System (LOIS). The aim of further developing the information system is to create opportunities to carry out aviation safety and security supervision and to organize the procedure for issuing aviation permits and similar documents digitally from start to finish.
The controller of LOIS is the Estonian Transport Board. The purpose of maintaining the information system is to ensure the data necessary for the performance of sectoral management and organization of aviation safety tasks arising from laws and other legislation and for the exercise of state supervision.
“This project supports the digitalization of aviation service processes, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing the amount of manual work. We are honored to cooperate with the Estonian Transport Board and contribute to the development of Estonian aviation safety and security,” said Kirill Krabu, Chairman of the Board of Krabu Grupp.
Krabu Tech will undertake the further development of the new LOIS information system, which includes developing aviation safety and security monitoring capabilities, improving the electronic procedure for issuing aviation permits and other aviation documents, converting new procedural forms and solutions to electronic form in accordance with European Union regulations, improving functionality and interfaces, and adapting the integrated exam software Moodle to the needs of the aviation service.
The main objective of the Estonian Transport Board’s aviation service is to implement the state’s economic policy and ensure safety in civil aviation. The Flight Safety Supervision Information System LOIS software, which had been in use since 2007, had become outdated and no longer meet today’s requirements. In recent years, the Estonian Transport Board has created a new and more modern system that simplifies the work of aviation specialists, operators and aviation organizations and improves work organization, including reducing the need for duplication of data in multiple systems.
Krabu Grupp has been providing digital transformation services for over 10 years. The company provides the creation of complete turnkey solutions as well as various digitalisation service packages for organisations of various IT maturity levels. Krabu Grupp is currently implementing digital transformation projects for companies and public sector organisations across the Europe.
